Her therapeutic focus tends to be on functional and meaningful communication skills and promotion of speech and language skills needed for academic success. Michelle loves using books in therapy and promotes literacy by integrating pre-literacy concepts with preschoolers, such as rhyming and concept of word. With older children, she incorporates phonological awareness skills and vocabulary development in her interventions to support reading skills. Other special interests include treating apraxia, phonological disorders, and pre-school stuttering.
When off duty, Michelle enjoys gardening, home improvement projects, crossword puzzles, reading, and visiting her parents who live on the Chesapeake Bay. A mom of 2 lovely girls, she also spends time traveling to visit one daughter in college or touring colleges where the other is looking to apply. Additionally, she is mom to a playful and mischievous American foxhound named Donut.
